Boot Camp is a unique opportunity to refresh and improve your skill-set, learn new trends and techniques, get motivated and inspired, and build a platform for future success.
Each week has a different focus, with every session structured to improve practical skills, and lead elegantly into the next piece of learning. Tuition is split between theory and demos that explain our approach to modern and creative, precision-based hairstyling, and lively and fun hands-on workshops where students practice skills as we guide and facilitate.
Week one features classic scissor cutting, as applied to geometric yet organic shapes: one-length lines, graduation, layers. Establishing the importance of proper craftsmanship and the value of precise technique, week one provides the technical foundation to improve all cuts, from the most simple to the most creative.
Week two features color. Students learn theories and practice procedures in classic and creative techniques, including foil patterns and placements, weaves and slices, color correction, and advanced and trend-conscious ideas like hair-painting and ombre coloring. A great week for adding to your color repertoire.
Week three features haircutting for men. Practicing long layers, square layers, graduation, and scissor over comb we improve technical application, creative awareness, precision, and versatility. Week three gives the insight and inspiration to approach cuts for men with confidence, artistry, and vision.
Week four features our signature approach to razor-cutting. Students practice cutting classic shapes with a razor -- one-length lines, graduation, layers -- as well as advanced techniques like asymmetry, disconnection, undercutting. Week four gives creative freedom, flexibility, and finesse to each student's skill-set.
On the final day we provide each student with a model for color and cut. On their model, students produce and present one look weaving together all the skills learned on the course, and representing their newfound technical and artistic scope as a modern, creative hairdresser.

State Board Licensing Note: ARROJO Advanced Academy is the only hairdressing education facility in New York where licensed stylists can add class time to their State Board license. It means if a stylist wishes to work in a State that requires more study hours than where they went to beauty school, they can use ARROJO Academy hours to top up their license. Thus, with 140 hours of training, Boot Camp has the dual benefit of inspirational educational, and a tangible addition to hours of State Board approved education.
